This quilt was made for Project Quilting, season 6.5. The challenge was My Favorite Fabric and we were encouraged to use a fabric that we didn't want to cut because we liked it so much, and that was what I used for my background fabric.
I made this around the time we were planning a trip to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. While we were on that trip became fascinated with mermaids and took photos of all the mermaids we saw. You can see them on my travel blog "Pack Up the Car" here. Some of my art quilts find a semi-permanent spot in my house where they live until they are bought. This quilt lives above this shelf, I love how the bottle head has a fish on it. |
