In October 2011 I was invited to participate in the show "Inside the Box" at the Dayton Art Institute. They gave us the box. Someone asked if I had any ideas and I figured since it wasn't due until April, I wouldn't even start thinking about it until March.
Then we went to a Halloween Party and someone was dressed up as Groucho Marx and he kept using Groucho's funny quotes but I realized that he never used my favorite Groucho quote, "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." Click. "Inside of a Dog" for "Inside the Box." I probably spent as much time thinking about how to make this and what order to put the pieces together as I spent actually making it. |
